Grandma’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate morsels

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Combine flour, baking soda and salt in medium bowl and set aside.
  • Cream butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed 1 to 2 minutes, or until light and fluffy.
  • Add egg and vanilla, beating until well blended. Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing on low speed after each addition. Stir in chocolate morsels.
  • Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto baking sheets, 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 5 minutes.
Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts or use toffee chips in the dough for a flavor variation. Make dough ahead of time and store in airtight container in refrigerator; bake as needed. Store baked cookies in an airtight container up to one week.
