Combine flour, baking soda and salt in medium bowl and set aside.
Cream butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed 1 to 2 minutes, or until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla, beating until well blended. Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing on low speed after each addition. Stir in chocolate morsels.
Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto baking sheets, 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake 8-10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 5 minutes.
Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts or use toffee chips in the dough for a flavor variation. Make dough ahead of time and store in airtight container in refrigerator; bake as needed. Store baked cookies in an airtight container up to one week.
