Siddhartha Angadi, PhD, FACSM

Assistant Professor, University of Virginia, Specializing in Exercise and Diet

Dr. Siddhartha (“Sid”) Angadi is an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia and a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Angadi is a cardiovascular exercise physiologist by training, and his research focuses on examining complex interactions between exercise/physical activity, diet, and drugs in healthy individuals and in individuals with serious illnesses such as congestive heart failure, breast cancer, and end-stage renal disease.

He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and four book chapters, and he has more than 60 conference presentations. His commentary in JAND titled “Gluten-Free Diet: Imprudent Dietary Advice for the General Population?” is ranked #12 out of all outputs from the journal. From a dietary perspective, his recent papers in Nutrients have focused on the effects of dietary fiber at mitigating the adverse cardiovascular effects of high-fat meals and the interaction of glycemic index and cereal fiber on vascular function, blood glucose, and insulin sensitivity in adults. Finally, his research has been featured in prominent lay publications such as The New York Times, Science, and Time.
