Dr. Wesley Tucker is a faculty member in the Department of Nutrition Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He is a registered dietitian nutritionist and exercise scientist with expertise in nutrition science, clinical exercise physiology and cardiovascular physiology.
His research focuses on developing nutrition and exercise interventions to prevent and treat cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, including hypertension, heart failure and stroke. His work translates mechanistic insights into practical lifestyle interventions that improve vascular function, cardiorespiratory fitness and overall cardiometabolic health, with additional interests in dietary patterns, functional foods, cognitive health and healthy aging.
Dr. Tucker has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications spanning nutrition, exercise physiology, cardiometabolic health and obesity, and has collaborated extensively on interdisciplinary clinical research examining dietary patterns, functional foods, exercise and other lifestyle strategies for improving health. He is particularly interested in translating nutrition science into practical, evidence-based recommendations for health professionals and the public.
