Cheese Popovers

These easy and impressive cheese popovers are crispy on the outside, light and airy on the inside, and filled with cheesy goodness.

Cheese Popovers

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 ¼ cup milk
  • 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour sifted
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted, plus extra for buttering popover pan cups
  • ¾ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Generously butter 6-cup popover or muffin pan and set aside.
  • Beat eggs in a large bowl using electric hand mixer. Add milk and mix on low speed. Add flour and salt. Beat until smooth. Stir in melted butter with rubber spatula.
  • Fill popover cups half full with batter and top evenly with cheese. Then pour remaining batter on top.
  • Bake 50 minutes, or until puffed and deep golden brown. (DO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR TO CHECK OR THE POPOVERS MAY FALL!)
  • Remove from oven and let cool 1 minute. Loosen each popover with a knife and remove. Serve hot.
