Ingredients
- 3 large eggs beaten
- 3 cups skim milk
- ½ cup sugar + 1 tablespoon for garnish
- 4 teaspoons unsalted butter melted
- 1½ teaspoons cinnamon divided
- 1 pinch salt
- 8 slices white bread cut in large cubes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square glass baking dish and set aside.
- Combine eggs, milk, sugar, butter, 1 tsp. cinnamon and salt in large bowl.
- Place bread in prepared baking dish and pour milk mixture on top. Mix and submerge all bread pieces. Sprinkle top with remaining 1 Tbsp. sugar and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon.
- Set the baking dish in a larger baking pan and pour hot water in, to about 1-inch from the top of the dish.
- Bake 45 minutes, or until a knife comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
- Serve with fruit or whipped cream.
